Pool servicing in Crows Nest

Inside a pool equipment enclosure, with a sand filter, chlorinator and new PVC pipework mounted on a backboard

Pressure testing, equipment installation and green pool recovery in Crows Nest. Small blocks and tight plant spaces, so Andy checks access before quoting rather than on the day.

Pressure testing, equipment installation and green pool recovery make up most of the Crows Nest work. The housing is dense by North Shore standards, terraces and semis on small blocks plus a lot of apartments and townhouse complexes, so the pools are mostly courtyard size in the houses or common property in the buildings. Quote first, fixed price, then the work.

Space is the recurring constraint. Plant tends to be squeezed into a side passage or a corner of the courtyard, which affects what can be replaced and how easily anything is reached. Older terraces also carry older pipework, and on a small block a water loss you cannot locate is a genuinely expensive problem because there is nowhere to dig speculatively. Pressure testing each line first turns a possible excavation into a patch.

Pool questions from Crows Nest

My pool is losing water. How do you find out where without digging up the yard?
By testing rather than guessing. Andy isolates each line and pressure-tests it, which narrows the loss to a specific section of pipe or rules the pipework out entirely and points at the shell or the fittings. That way any excavation is targeted, which on a small block is the difference between a patch and a rebuild.
Does Andy service common-property pools for strata?
Yes. Building and townhouse pools run as a scheduled maintenance agreement with a written record of each visit, which is what an owners corporation, strata manager or building manager needs for their files. New scheduled work is on a waitlist right now, though one-off jobs are not: equipment installation, green pool recovery and pressure testing can all be booked with normal turnaround. How do I stop the pool pump annoying the neighbours?
A variable-speed pump running slower for longer is much quieter than an old single-speed unit, and an acoustic enclosure takes off more again. Moving the plant is sometimes an option too. All three also tend to cut running costs, so the fix is rarely money spent on noise alone.
