Why does my pool turn over so fast in autumn?

On the blocks with real canopy above the water it is almost always the leaf load. Organic matter uses up chlorine as it breaks down, so the same dose that held all summer stops holding, and the filter is working harder at the same time. The fix is usually run time and skimming rather than more chemicals.

Will an acid wash damage the surface?

It removes a thin layer of it, which is the point, and that is why it is not something to do every year. Done properly it buys a tired surface a lot of life. Done too often, or by someone guessing at the concentration, it takes life off. Andy will tell you if a surface is not a good candidate.

What if there is no vehicle access to the pool?
