Pool servicing in Artarmon

Drained pebblecrete pool with leaf litter across the floor, drain hoses running out, part way through a clean-out

Equipment installation, green pool recovery and acid washing in Artarmon. Plenty of blocks here sit under mature canopy, so filters and surfaces work harder than the manual assumes.

Most of the Artarmon work is equipment replacement, green pool recovery and acid washing, and it usually traces back to the same thing. Plenty of the residential streets here sit under mature street trees, with interwar Federation and California bungalows on gardens that have had eighty or ninety years to fill out. That is pleasant to live with and demanding on a pool. Andy quotes upfront and does the work himself.

Organic load is the recurring Artarmon problem. Leaf litter fills skimmer baskets, blocks flow, and once it sinks and starts breaking down it eats chlorine and stains the surface. On the shadiest blocks it is close to a year-round job rather than an autumn one. The practical answer is not heroics after the fact, it is filter and skimmer frequency matched to what the property actually drops, plus a surface restoration when the staining has already gone too far. Not every street here is heavily shaded, so it is worth having someone look at your particular yard rather than assuming.

Pool questions from Artarmon

How often should a pool under heavy trees be serviced?
More often than the standard advice, and how much more depends on the trees. A yard under dense evergreen canopy sheds all year and needs a tighter interval than one with a couple of deciduous trees that drop for six weeks. Andy looks at the yard before recommending a schedule.
Will a pool cover fix the leaf problem?
It helps a great deal with what lands in the water, though it does not do much for what blows in around the edges or what is already on the floor. It is worth having, particularly through autumn, and it also cuts evaporation and heating costs. It reduces the servicing load rather than removing it.
My pool surface is stained brown. Can that be fixed?
Usually yes. Organic staining that has stopped lifting with brushing and chemistry comes off with an acid wash, which strips the stained top layer of a concrete or pebblecrete surface and takes the finish back close to new. Andy checks the surface underneath is sound before quoting.
